Happy Birthday Amanda!

Amanda spent all week last week giving me the countdown to her birthday (which she is now doing for me til mine). It was a great day and she was very patient to wait until 2:00 to open presents! We had to participate in a service project in the morning and then had to wait for the boys to get home from Fathers and Sons.

Alex was right there the whole time she opened presents. She has been waiting for her turn since his birthday last month, and had to wait through Brittany, Darren and Mother's Day! Whew.
I was angry to have to buy a new bike for her but Brit's old one needed new tires and training wheels. By the time I bought those, it was $3 more to buy a brand new one. She was very pleased.

Amanda had an ice cream cake this year. I told her she could even though she is allergic to milk. She has been so good and her skin looks great--the first time in a long time. I figured it was OK.

OTHER HAPPENINGS

Last weekend we had Brit's b-day party with her friends. We had a great time and Brit did a great job planning it. She had an aloha theme and they decorated each other and practiced the hula.

We played a few games, ate dinner, dessert and watched a movie.

I was so grateful for the nice weather so they could be outside. They were loud and crazy but had a great time.

I made some punch to go with dinner and apparently it was really good. Alex was my punch trier to make sure that we could serve it. After trying it, he gave me this.

It is hard to see but really, have any of you ever received a "Best Punch Award"? I thought it was noteworthy and it is hanging on my wall.

ONE LAST THING

Last Friday was bike to work day so my husband dusted his bike off and rode to work with his friend. He called after he arrived to tell me he crashed. His brakes didn't catch when he slowed down and he flew over his handle bars. We are very grateful that he wasn't hurt more seriously-aside from a bit of pride (he crashed in front of a table of people), a beat up face and a pretty sore hand and thumb.

He had to endure millions of questions at the Father's and Son's that night and at church but that is OK. He now sports a beard til his upper lip heals enough to shave comfortably. His lip is swollen in the picture too.

Happy Birthday to my baby!

Today is Darren's birthday and I can hardly believe it. I know I am way behind on my blog, as well as so many other things but I thought I would post a few pics of the day. He is growing so fast and makes us smile and laugh on a daily basis.

He really didn't need anything and so we got just a few gifts.

The kids were so funny and all wanted to play with his presents. I guess it doesn't matter how old you are...baby toys are cool.

Darren got his own cake. He started by taking the sprinkles off and eating them. Then he had a few good handfuls but I think he gets more messy when he eats tacos and feeds himself.

Happy birthday buddy. He is such a sweetheart. We just really like our kids! (now I am going to get grief from them because Alex and Brit have both had birthdays an no posts from them! In my defense, we were out of town and then have had some pretty significant computer problems while trying to get the kids bathroom put back together which is completely unusable right now. Maybe things will slow down after this week....)

Easter 2009

Better late than never, right? No, I promised my sister I would post a picture of my kids Easter dresses. They looked very cute and it was fun to sew again. It seems like so long since I have. We had fun having Easter at Grandpa and Grandma's. We colored eggs and had a pretty fun hunt.
For me though the best part of Easter wasn't the day but the week leading up to it. We spent every day doing a devotional where we focused on what was happening to Christ at that time. Aaron did a great job tying in the empty egg cartons to the empty tomb. It was the best Easter I can ever remember and I know that it is because the focus was where it should have been. I am so grateful for the gospel of Jesus Christ!
